Company History

American Realty Capital ("ARC"), the REIT’s predecessor, was founded in August 2006 by Nicholas S. Schorsch and William M. Kahane as a real estate private equity firm. Prior to that time, Mr. Schorsch, as CEO, and Mr. Kahane, as a member of its Board of Trustees, had been instrumental in building and leading American Financial Realty Trust (NYSE: AFR) into becoming the nation's largest owner of commercial real estate leased to financial institutions.

American Realty Capital completed its first acquisition in December 2006. In the following seven months, ARC acquired fifty-two (52) properties totaling approximately 1.5 million rentable square feet with a total acquisition value of $242 million. Furthermore, ARC has, under contract, approximately $200 million in properties with closings scheduled to occur through April 2008. Utilizing its real estate proficiency, dexterity, and understanding of the capital markets, American Realty Capital has built a highly scalable platform that will allow us to continue growing our acquisitions at an even more rapid pace, consistent with the REIT's investment strategy, thus providing the REIT with investment opportunities allowing it to meet its investment objectives.
